The Art of Shifting Beliefs

The Art of Shifting Beliefs

Yesterday during class we were asked to share a belief that we have/had about ourselves that has provided us with a sense of limitation and contractedness.

“I’m not enough” was the first thought that came.

We were invited to really feel into our bodies how it felt when we chose to believe that thought, as if it were true.

- Small, insecure, sad, alone, afraid.

Then we were invited to tune into the space around our physical bodies, expanding as we, listened to the birds and outside sounds, bringing awareness to the sky, the grass, the flowers and taking deep breathes as we observed how the feeling within our bodies changed.

“How can one not be enough, if we are breathing, living and being. Made up of the sun, air, water, earth, light, and fire. Brothers and sisters of the birds and trees, how can one not be enough if we are here on this earth gifted with the life force that flows through this very being?”

Because of the strongly held beliefs that we are in fact just one.
The illusion of the independent “I”
“I” am not enough because there is so much more to what is then this “I”

Huge lessons and insights that have been presented to me this week have been around this very topic.

Identification with the personality self, with the small S self. Wrapped up in its stories and perspectives. Held onto by an egoïc structure created to “protect” itself. But continues to separate even further from love.

Sometimes the voices inside the mind can be so strong, especially if they’ve taken the driver seat for a long period of time. Which are usually accompanied by a recollection of memories/moment/situations that affirm these to be “true”

Sometimes we aren’t even aware of how much we feed these stories without ever inquiring into their validity.

Newsflash – Most of our reality is in fact based on stories that are not objectively true.

Just based on life experience and handed down thought patterns/conditionings/programming.

By Conscious Engineering we can create new stories that serve us more!

QUESTIONS FOR INQUIRY

- “What am I choosing to believe right now?”
- “Is this true, or is it an assumption I’m making?”
- “Do I have enough data to ground this in reality?”
- “How do I feel when I believe this thought?”
- “How do I want to feel?"
- “What do I choose to believe instead?”
- “How can I affirm this new belief?’
