Abhaya: ‘Without fear’, fearlessness, a state of steadfastness in which one is not swayed by fear.
Agami karma: Karma produced by present action that will be experienced by the individual in the future.
Ajapa Japa: a yogic term that means the natural, spontaneous sound of the breath that goes on perpetually through the simple act of breathing. This sound is extremely subtle, and though non-verbal is the highest form of mantra.
Ajara: without old age, ageless.
Akasha: All-pervading ther, space, sky: leterally: ‘not visible’. The subtlest of the five elements.
Amalam: Free from Maya, free from the impurity of the dualistic illusion
Anada: Bliss, happiness; joy. A fundamental attribute of Brahman, which is Satchi-dananda: Existence, Consciousness, Bliss.
Anrita: Falsehood or Untruth.
Antaryamin: Indweller, inner guide, inner ruler, God as the Inner Controller.
Anubhava: Perception, direction personal experience: identity of the Jiva with Brahman, spiritual experience, intuitive consciousness and knowledge.
Anugraha: Divine grace, attraction, favor, kindness, assistane.
Aparokha anubhuti: The direct, immediate, intuitive experience or perception of the divine and the invisible.
Apavarga: Liberation, release, escape form pain, release from the bondage of embodiment.
Aryan: One who is an Arya - literally ‘one who strives upwards.’ Both Arya and Aryan are exclusively pscyhological terms having nothing to do with birth, race, nationality. In his teaching the Buddha habitually referred to spiritually qualified peoples as ‘the Aryas’.
Asambhava: Total inapplicability, impossibility. Asamprajnata samadhi: Highest superconscious state where the mind and the ego-sense are completely annihilated. Superconscious union, a stage in samadhi wherein one is not conscious of any object and in the mind ceases to function.
Aryavarta: The land of the Aryas. Usually applied to northern India.
Atmavichara: Enquiry into the Self.
These were just a few examples of Sanskrit words, but hopefully, you can see the power of reading the Sanskrit language, as language and mind is the link between our mind and our conscious experience of Life.
